By the time you read this post, I will be in Australia spending some time catching up with my family, relaxing in the sun and probably reading a book or three.
While I'm gone I will be taking a break from reviewing books — my first proper long break in what must be five or six years, perhaps longer.
When I usually go on holiday I tend to schedule posts to be published in my absence, but this time round I haven't had the time to do so. Ever since going freelance in mid-2011, my life has revolved around editing, editing, editing and editing (day shifts at magazines, and separate commissions during the evenings or at weekends), and there are some weeks when I must read and knock into shape 100,000+ words of copy. This means the last thing I want to do in my spare time is write and edit more copy (even if it is my own).
So, forgive me for taking some time out. I just need to recharge the batteries for a bit. Hopefully, upon my return in early October, I will resume usual blogging service.
In the meantime, wherever you live and whatever you're doing this month, I hope you have a wonderful book-filled September.
