This year has been a rather unpredictable and unsettled year for me personally and professionally. But the one constant has been my love of books and the strengthening of friendships, both online and in person, with others who share my love of literature.
Here's 10 bookish highlights for 2010 in the order in which they happened.
- Hearing Alaskan-born writer David Vann read at a literary evening at To Hell With Books in Woburn Walk, Bloomsbury. (I also met author Evie Wyld and had a bit of a "fan moment". More here, but you need to scrawl down.)
- Being named on Cision's Top 10 UK Literature Blogs
- Chairing my first literary gig: a conversation between me, German author Friedrich Christian Delius, and his translator, Jamie Bulloch, at the Big Green Bookshop in Wood Green, North London. (Hat tip to Meike of Peirene Press for asking me to do it.)
- Buying a Kindle and then using it on my travels
- Shopping for books in Beijing, China: Wangfujing Bookstore and Beijing Foreign Languages Bookstore
