"Wait until you meeet, Veronica," a colleague told me as we headed to the Northbank Restaurant, near St Paul's, for a summer drinks party. "She's just gorgeous."
I thought she was talking about a member of the bar staff. I was wrong.
Veronica is a well-behaved bulldog with a penchant for pork scratchings and pink bubbly. And yes, she's gorgeous. I wanted to take her home.
