At the risk of turning this into a food blog, here's a quick snap of last night's farewell banquet meal.
I was excited to finally eat some authentic Peking duck, which is also known as Beijing duck. But I generally refer to it as crispy duck pancakes.
The chef carved the duck into thin slices right in front of us -- a kind of culinary entertainment, if you will -- and it was then piled onto a pretty duck-shaped china serving plate. (In the UK, the duck tends to be shredded rather than sliced.)
We piled the meat onto crispy pancakes and rolled them up with thin slices of cucumber, spring onion and hoisin sauce. Delicious!
