VENICE'S GRAND CANAL GETS EVEN GRANDER
Venice experiences its worst floods in 20 years. What I want to know is this: if you're walking the flooded streets, how do you know where the canals are? I mean, one wrong step and you could suddenly be under 12-foot of water. Scary.
AWARD-WINNING BEER, PISS-POOR JOURNALISM
Apparently the Aussies have made a beer that "was voted the most popular beer
out of 50 nominations at the JD Wetherspoon international beer
festival in Britain last month". Unfortunately, this piece in The Age is one of the worst pieces of parochial journalism I've ever read. The whole "we've beaten the Poms at something that they invented" is a lame -- and lazy -- angle to take. And what the hell has rugby got to do with the story? Hmmm...
