A visit to Kensington Roof Gardens
All pictures taken: Kensington Roof Gardens, London.

I'm a bit slow with this (where do the days go??) but last weekend we queued up with a million other Londoners to visit the Kensington Roof Gardens as part of Open House weekend.
The gardens, which were first opened in 1938, comprise three different sections: a Spanish garden (pictured above), an English woodland garden (complete with a duck pond and stream) and a Tudor garden.
It's a bit hard to believe that these are set atop a six-storey building.
The gardens' claim to fame is its (tiny) collection of Chilean flamingos (see above). There are two male birds, both more than 20 years old, and despite everyone clamouring to photograph them they seemed completely oblivious to the attention -- and slept through it all!
It was an interesting visit, and for just a moment or two, it felt like I was in sunny Spain -- which is probably why they fly the Union Flag, just so that you don't forget you're actually in West London!

Oh wow. That looks lovely. The photos seem so crisp, green and gorgeous.

Sunny Spain? It's raining here now.

Thanks Melody. Think you would have liked this garden. It's owned by Richard Branson (Virgin) now.
raelha, oops, sorry about the rain -- I always thought it was forever sunshine in Spain! It's raining here today too, but that's nothing unusual!
