Mist and majestic trees

Landscape

Place:
Richmond Park, London.
Date: April 7, 2007.
Camera: Sony Cybershot DSC-W1.

Richmond Park is one of London's jewels -- 2,500 acres of open ground set up by long-ago royals who wanted somewhere they could hunt deer in peace. Nowadays the deer are still there -- and so they are the most amazing trees you've ever seen. Their skeletal shapes shrouded in early morning mist are simply majestic.

I took the above photograph on an early morning bike ride to the park on Easter Saturday. There was barely a soul around -- a few horse riders, people walking their dogs, joggers and fellow cyclists -- but as it got closer to 9am the traffic started to increase, which I took as my signal to hurry back home. The park is gorgeous, but best appreciated when it's too early for the crowds.

You can see more of my photographs and read about my bike ride here.

Hi Kimbofo,

What a fantastic photo - very mystical.
I like the Royal parks - of course, any green in London is appreciated!

Michele sent me to say hi

cq

Thanks, cq. Fortunately there's a lot of greenery in London to be appreciated thanks to the forethought of the city's early planners.

I love your view of the world around you, and am so glad that I'm back here to enjoy your words and images.

I'm about to clean off the bike from its Canadian winter slumber and hit the road. There's room in my bike bag for the point-and-shoot camera, and I'll be thinking of you as I meander around the "other" London and look for photographic targets of opportunity.

Stay tuned...

That is a great shot, as are the ones I checked out on your other blog :-)

I love seeing things early in the morning - it is great before everyone else gets up adn nice to watch the world wake up to another day!

Thanks for dropping by my blog - I visit your sisters blog a lot and I will come back here too!

Carmi, thanks for your kind words. Cycling and photography do go hand in hand, because when you're out on your bike you get a much better view of things than you would through the window of a car travelling at a fast speed. I hope you enjoy your cycling adventures!

Bob-kat, I thought I recognised your name from Melody's blog! Glad you like the piccie. I'm not a morning person, so scenes like this pretty much blow my mind as I so rarely see them!

What a beautiful picture, as are the ones to the right, I'll be checking those out next!
Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier

Becky, thanks for your kind words and taking the time to make a return visit!
